To ensure effective coordination and address key sectoral issues, the Indian Shipbuilders Association (ISBA) has constituted several Working Level Committees that focus on the day-to-day operational and strategic needs of the shipbuilding and maritime ecosystem.
These committees serve as expert forums that bring together representatives from all ISBA member shipyards to deliberate on industry-specific matters, share insights, and develop unified recommendations. The aim is to channel these recommendations to the ISBA Board, and where accepted, present them to relevant stakeholders—including government authorities, regulatory bodies, and industry platforms.
Key Features:
- As of 2025, ISBA operates over five active working committees, each addressing a vital aspect of the industry:
- New Technologies, Innovation, and Product diversification
- Export Promotion & Global Outreach
- Standardisation (For Products, Designs and Services)
- Finance, Taxation, and Commercial Practices
- Human Resource and Workforce Development
- Policy, Government Advocacy, and Regulatory Alignment
- Member-Driven Participation:
Each committee comprises representatives from all member shipyards, ensuring balanced input and pan-industry representation.
- Nodal Officers for Coordination:
Every member organization designates a Nodal Officer for each relevant committee. These officers act as points of contact for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and coordination across shipyards.
- Advisory Role:
The committees’ function in an advisory capacity, submitting suggestions and recommendations to the ISBA Board. Once reviewed and approved, these inputs may form the basis of formal representations made by ISBA to government ministries and other stakeholders for policy improvements and industry advancement.
These working committees reflect ISBA’s commitment to collaborative governance, technical excellence, and evidence-based advocacy to support the sustainable growth of India’s shipbuilding and maritime industries.
